On Wednesday, Matt shared with the class his favourite book, which is 'The Children's Encyclopedia of Dinosaurs'. It contains an almost unlimited amount of information about different dinosaurs, their names, characteristics, what their fossils look like, and so on. He told us his favourite dinosaur would probably be members of the Spinosaur genus (which means spined lizard), why most dinosaurs end in the suffix 'saurus' (it means lizard-like), and other interesting facts.
On Tuesday, Matt brought in his two favourite soft toys, which were Luigi and Toad (from the Mario games). He said he had about six or so of these toys, but these two were the best. He also likes Mario and Yoshi, and some of the 'bad guys' such as Koopa. Matthew told us that he got them on his recent holiday over to America.
To begin his week as our Star, Matthew showed us photos on the data panel using his iPad. He told us all about when he went to America on the holidays and he said that he had a lot of fun in the snow. He liked going because he got to see his family. He had Christmas at his Grandma Martha's house. He loved his angry birds hat that he got for Christmas (but he's not sure who he got it from). He also had fun snowboarding and had lots of fun going down the hill. He swam in his Grandpa John's indoor pool. Him and his family played a lot of games. They also went to Hawaii. He went in the pool that was there, but it was freezing he said. He went to a volcano and there was a lot of steam.Matthew spoke with great confidence in front of the class which was great to see.(Thank you to Chloe for the report and Emily for the photos)
