Ruby wrapped up her week as our first Star of the year by showing the class some of the iMovies she has made. Ruby told us she couldn't really think of a 'special' item to bring in, but said that she spends a lot of time working on iMovie and creating trailers to show different ideas she has had. She showed the class two very creative pieces of work and ended her week in an exciting way!
For her favourite movie on Thursday, Ruby brought in a couple of the movies from the Harry Potter series. She said her favourites are the final movies, 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows', but she spoke to us about the adventures the characters go on, why she likes the movies and even some of the spells used. A large number of the class are very interested in the Harry Potter series so they were listening attentively and asked some great questions.
On Wednesday, Ruby spoke to us about her favourite books. She said she enjoys readings 'magic' style books, so the two she brought in to share with the class were 'Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone', and 'The Hobbit'. She has read all of the Harry Potter books and told us that Hermione was her favourite character. The class had lots of questions for Ruby in this session as a large number of the Sr-S students are interested in these books. She couldn't decide which Harry Potter book was her favourite though, telling us she just likes them all!
On Tuesday Ruby brought in her favourite toy, which was a mini-pillow pet that she said she still hasn't actually named yet. Ruby said she couldn't really think of anything else to bring in, but that she has had a lot of fun with the pillow pet. She demonstrated an example to the class - Ruby and her friend Lucinda had created an iMovie trailer using their pillow pets, so Ruby mirrored her iPad on to the big screen so that she could show the whole class. It was a funny and touching movie!
Ruby began her week as our Star sharing a range of photos she had brought in. She spoke to the class about her best friend, Lucinda, and a lot of the fun things they get up to. She also shared info about family holidays, her kindergarten and old school, and a wedding she got to get all dressed up for.
